With the launch of the modern 2 wheel self balancing electric scooter, 2015 has become an exilerating year for gadget fans. All over the world, folks are taking to YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to post pics and vids of themselves zipping around on this 2 wheel contraption which basically looks like a board which has a wheel on each side.
A cross between a skateboard and a segway, this mini Segway (minus the handle) type thing is blowing up in popularity, fuelled partly through the level of celebrities that were seen on one. From Justin Bieber to Soulja Boy, Kendall Jenner to Jamie Foxx, all have tried their hand only at that nifty little gadget, and seem to own had a great deal of fun the process.
Nicknamed the ‘swegway’ (because of it’s likeness on the Segway, however a ‘cooler’ version) we’re not sure entirely where this type of self balancing scooter originated from or who invented the 1st. Most likely it originated from some factory in China. The first glimpses we saw of computer on tv were something referred to as the IO Hawk, a scooter that will cost you a stunning $1800. This became last January of 2015. Subsequently many cheaper versions of the product came available on the market and also the average price at this time is apparently around $500.
How can it work? Basically you get up on the two panels and shift your system weight slightly forward or slightly back and it senses this bodyweight change and moves backwards or forwards. It can also turn left or right. This self balancing scooter is proving to be so well received that it is being touted because the personal mobility device for the future. Who would like to walk when it’s possible to glide, right? Plus it is a lot faster than walking, travelling at speeds of 6mph to 10mph.
