If you are not used to retail people counting and the other from the first questions you will be asking yourself is which technology do i need to be utilising?
You will find three main varieties of technologies; beams, thermal and video. Each have their unique benefits and weaknesses with respect to the environment they may be being installed in.
Beam Counters – Will often be battery operated and so fitted to temporary use. They’re easy to install and take, and also susceptible to become damaged and field of view blocked. They’re struggling to count people walking via an entrance side-by-side and so will undercount.
Thermal Cameras – Infra-red devices such as the IRISYS cameras include the most in-demand people counting on earth. These units are IP enabled and most one unit can be linked together for wide entrances. Accuracy levels have become good.
Cameras – Come as single or dual vision IP enabled devices. The only view cameras are usually less accurate. Overall the playback quality devices are more expense than thermal cameras. The dual-view cameras are as accurate because the thermal devices in many instances.
