After researching the benefits of each product and the many bells and whistles that came with them, I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information available online. This company sells it in this strength and at this dosage. It can be very overwhelming for beginners. An old friend of mine is here to help, though!
Piedmont Green was formed in 2019 by Eric Abarelli and Christian Dobson with the intention to bring a holistic and natural approach to healthy living through the benefits of CBD. They are located in Kannapolis, North Carolina and have built a solid business despite living in the Bible Belt, which opposes cannabis use. However, the team and business have made such a positive impact in the community, they were able to change their minds through education about CBD and the benefits. They also grow and make the products from their hemp, which makes it a small organic business.
What is CBD?
Eric was kind enough to explain what CBD is and how it affects our bodies. Here’s what he had for us:
CBD is a derivative from the Cannabis Sativa plant. It is derived from the hemp plant which contains minimal THC (legal limit is <0.3%) and is non-psychoactive. Everybody has an Endocannabinoid, which is a system that binds with one's nervous system, organs, and skeletal structures. It's composed of CB1-CB2 receptors, which are dormant cannabis receptors that are waiting for an external source. This system works in conjunction with the body to regulate serotonin dopamine, oxytocin and dopamine. However, please do not ever self-diagnose or do anything without consulting a medical professional.
The Potential Benefits of Using CBD
Eric mentioned the many benefits of CBD to me, but the FDA has yet to approve the product. The bright side is that “The FDA approved only one CBD product. It was a prescription drug product to treat seizures related to Lennox Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), Dravet Syndrome (DS), or tuberous sclerosis Complex (TSC) in individuals one year and older.” This gives hope for the future, and a holistic approach to medicine.
There are many people who have used CBD and their experiences with it. However, doctors still don’t prescribe it. Despite the growth of medical marijuana cards across the United States, it is still yet to be legal in all 50 states. The updated list is here. Here are some benefits to using CBD.
