This magnificent botanic garden can be found around the Gambarogno-side of Lake Maggiore, with a plain inside the hills between Piazzogna and Vairano.
Within this place, Otto Eisenhut, a patient and talented cultivator of plants and trees, cultivated thousands of beautiful and colourful flowering plants like 950 varieties of camelias, 450 different magnolias, azaleas, peonies and Rhododendron with a the surface of more than 20’000 m2.
Additionally, here grows also ivy, pines, juniper as well as other rare European and exotic coniferous trees.

On the summit with the mountain, 1671 meters above sea level, a viewing platform was built which overlooks the whole region of Lake Maggiore. For the east the scene stretches from the Magadino Plain to Bellinzona. On the west the view extends over one of the most famous peaks from the Swiss Alps like the Dufour. Towards the south, beyond the mountains that surround Lake Maggiore, you can observe from the distance the Ligurian Apennines, located near Genoa.
Further down, a couple of meters outside the arrival station in the cable car a footbridge was built which winds its way throughout the tops in the trees with the woods below. Using this unusual scenic promontory you can admire the lake, the Centovalli and parts of the Maggia Valley.
