Everyday Theology

Whenever the saying “Theology” is mentioned, pictures of the seminary, thick theological books, Greek and Hebrew terms, along with other highfalutin expressions would come up to one’s mind. It looks like “Theology” is available the “holy ones”, the “chosen ones”, and the intellectuals. In case you are acquainted with the writings of Karl Barth, Martin Luther, Augustine, and so forth, you might be close to inner towards the group of friends of biblical scholars.

Considerably more if you’re able to speak their language which is capable of producing an academically accepted theological work. I’ve been a student of an Bible School and Theological seminary. Both institutions have solved the problem to have deeper insight to Church History, Systematic Theology and Biblical backgrounds. Yet even midst the lessons and classroom discussions, questions still roam produce. Are all these true? Please don’t do not understand. I’m a firm believer that this Bible is the sole authority over life. I have faith that the Bible could be the Word of God. But being a regular mortal, I’m caught between your an entire world of reality and faith, and bridging the space from one to the other is a reasonably mental and spiritual feat. Yet, In my opinion, too that God’s Spirit and style are at attempt to teach us beyond exactly what the mind can’t comprehend.

Theology is described as the study of God, in the Greek word “Theos” (God) and “logos” (study of). Determined by such, does is imply Theology be learned? Can God be grasped by the human mind? Can God be described merely by words? If a person carries a doctorate degree in Theology, would that mean that, he or she has already a firm grasped of God Himself?

I’ve met professors of various degrees, i have met simple folks with simple thoughts. Yet, comparing on what they view God and express who God is always to them, the first sort (most, and not all) would have a mouthful of jargon of expressions through the books… a Greek word there… a Hebrew term there… leaving her or his listeners at reduction in space. Alternatively, the latter, the easy ones, would talk about practical things they’ve got experienced of God’s character. If for the kids God is good, chances are they testify of how God has provided for the kids or has provided them good stuff.

From whom would Alaska listen more, for the academician in order to person who has got the practical experience? It is just a common praoclaiming that “Experience is the better teacher.” Theory would only remain a theory unless it can be proven true by experiments or by real experience. To put it differently, Theology would only be mere thought of God, unless you’ve got a true experience with that truth about God.

God should indeed be real, but unless that reality transcends your brain which is experienced with everyday situations, the conviction for these truth would never go deep in the center and soul, and neither he or she could convince others to think in this truth.
