Saturday’s “To Do” list depends on Head to GARAGE SALES!
Planning my route the night time before, testing my gps on my cell phone and circling the garage sale listings in the paper can be a Friday night ritual.
The neighborhood I live in is really a “Planned Community”. So that it is pre-planned and strategically outlined. It really is split into Sections each section is presented by a letter. The “P” section consists of streets beginning with the letter P: Perkins, Parking, Parkins, Penny. You get the drift! Inside the P section, there are numerous retirees and young professionals. The W section is considered the rich and ritzy division of town Then this B section is older yet sadly, more shabby. The R section is full of lovers with children. The S Section is south of town and regarded from the boondocks because the lots are larger also it feels more country. Last but not least, the C Section is how the canals, intracoastal, boats, boats and much more boaters live. Each section possesses his own characteristics and community. Although we all have been the main larger town, these “sections” develop over town to get a specific ambience. The area with many different children have 2 elementary schools and sidewalks throughout. The “Country” section of town doesn’t have any street lights and is off the beaten track from your most town. But, town as a whole has foibles and laws we all try to abide.
Were allowed Two rummage sales per year. Were required to buy a $5 permit for every of those sales and our signage is grabbed and destroyed by noon on Saturday mornings. It is not a conducive atmosphere for any Yard sale Business in your home office!
A lot of people have ignored all of the rules, communicated making use of their neighbors about their needs and plans and make a fairly good living sporting the yard sale event monthly! However, if they get caught disobeying the guidelines, they feign innocence towards the rules and promise never to try it again! But, a few weeks later when stuff has calmed down again, there will probably suddenly be another yard sale! Many people locally could care less and life continues!
On the Wednesday before the Friday/Saturday Yard sale rush, a listing of all sales comes out within our local shopping guide, The Pennysaver. People list their address, date and time of sale as well as a couple of “hook” items which will attract the throngs of super sale seekers. I faithfully pour within the Pennysaver dividing the sale addresses into town’s sections and plot my Saturday journey!
I leave to the sales until around 11am since most of those sales end by 1 or 2pm. Therefore, as soon as I recieve to the sale, people decide to sell all of the their stuff for virtually every price you are offering them. Since i have am NEVER searching for anything in particular… just real deals, I have been in a position to purchase (without negotiation) entire rooms of furniture, enormous collections of old china and enough fabric to sew clothes for any third world nation! And i also got it approximately $5!!! I’ve got a weekly budget of about $20 for rummage sales and just a few times have I ever gone over that amount!!!
So, just for this weekend, We are plotting out about 10 sales in just a 10 mile range of home. I will leave at 11 am and stay back by 3pm i know….A corner seat from the car is going to be LOADED!!!!
Oh! And Happy Junquin’!!!
