How weddings have changed on the decades! From the handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight wedding party members; a simple wedding car to expensive and large wedding cars; three course meals in order to six course meals; one to three live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
Talking about the latter, wedding speeches are nevertheless a fundamental part of a wedding and guests do enjoy hearing them, speaking about them before, during as well as after they’ve been delivered.
We have all heard of wedding speeches delivered before the meal, throughout the meal and after the meal, yet it’s of the strong opinion that this wedding speeches must be delivered following the meal. I am aware that for a lot of wedding party speakers i.e. Father from the Bride Speech, Father of the father of the groom speech (the 5 main speakers), they’d choose to contain the wedding speeches ahead of the meal, to enable them to enjoy their meal (a lot of them are spending money for it!). However, is going on the invited guests and the way a lot of them (and even wedding ceremony venue staff) would prefer the marriage speeches to get delivered following your meal for many reasons, many of which include:
The invited guests happen to be fed and watered and are not playing wedding speeches before eating anything (at least of food, which would be the case before the meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival at the wedding venue)
Food may be cooked and served at the agreed time (introduce the wedding ceremony speeches before the meal and their might be a delay of A quarter-hour to at least one.5 hours, driving your home staff crazy attempting to keep food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
The marriage speeches act as the transition from your meal on the dancing (with nothing happening after the meal, folks are expecting ‘a few words’ to become shared about the Bride & Groom after which it they are fully aware they could stand up, move about, come out, take a stroll, navigate to the bar…)
It’s a challenge for fogeys with the Bride & Groom to speak in public areas, as the majority of them couldn’t survive used of computer. So, they may, whenever they so wished, speak before the / their meal.
There should nevertheless be some kind of formal speech(es) as soon as the meal…
