To start, it needs to be understood that in Counter-Strike: Source (CS), there are several different map types. These types are:
Bomb Map (de). The Terrorist goal in the bomb map is usually to cost a specific location (marked on your own map) and plant an explosive. The explosive is on a timer, so once it is planted, you should defend it until detonation.
The counter-terrorist goal on bomb maps would be to prevent the terrorists from planting the bomb without exceptions. You can do this by eliminating all the terrorists, defusing the planted bomb, or (occasionally) defending the bomb site until time finishes.
Hostage Rescue (cs). In hostage rescue maps, the principal goal for counter-terrorists is usually to rescue hostages captured and held with the Terrorists. You can even win through the elimination of the terrorist team.
The Terrorist goal is always to simply avoid the counter-terrorists from rescuing the hostages by reduction of them, or maintaining charge of the hostages until time finishes.
Bomb Maps – Counter-Terrorist. Like a counter-terrorist on bomb maps, the best longterm option (by far) is to eliminate the terrorist team before they are able to plant the bomb. Defusing the bomb making you a sitting duck, and that is a scenario you would like to avoid. Keeping the terrorists seeking to plant the bomb means you can stay with the defensive, which gives an advantage.
Bomb Maps – Terrorist. As being a terrorist, your only goal is to completely overrun a bomb site. If you cann’t control a bomb site inside first Thirty seconds, your team will likely lose the round. The most effective approach is to rush everyone on the team apart from Several (tops) one site. One other few players will behave as a distraction on the other site, therefore the counter-terrorists guarding it are not shipped in as re-enforcements.
Hostage Maps – Counter-Terrorist. I have discovered the most effective tactic to be spreading they out and attacking from all angles. Coordinate a simultaneous attack if possible, but be sure nobody just “runs in, guns blazing,” because that technique almost guarantees death in the hostage map.
If an individual side in the attack seems to punch through and have inside the area under Terrorist control, all of those other team should move to that area as a way to profit the attack.
