Having a few new materials and production methods invented inside the mid-20th century, a barrage of recent frame styles soon followed suit and large round frames found they’d slipped off of the stylistic radar. This wasn’t the end of the queue for round frames though. Oh no! Whether or not this would be a nod towards the intellectual heroes which in fact had worn them decades before, or even the fact they may be grabbed dirt-cheap pre-owned, the hippy movement of the 60s adopted the fashion because unofficial frames with their peace loving movement. Now manifesting as sunglasses and opticals, big round glasses had doubly secured their put in place popular culture history, having been written in to the stylistic history books included in, not just one, but two cultural revolutions.
And it’s the fact that this classic style can continue to envision a graphic of refined, studious authority that’s meant big round framed specs have not strayed much through the frame style peripheral. It’s why they’ve been a choice of thinkers and visionaries alike. Most importantly, though, it’s why the frame style is on its way back in a big way almost century after its first foray on the frontlines of favor.
Big Rounded lenses are some of the few true oldies; An item of fashion history that may still pull weight today. As frames, they’re an all rounder. They search top-notch small, and wirey, or massive and chunky. They’re able to complete a peek using a stamp of intellectualism, or they could invoke a feeling of care-free psychedelia. Whilst they’re not always suitable for rounder faces, they certainly a good job of suiting most face shape.
